During today’s meeting at the High Prosecutorial Council, steps have been proposed to set up the Special Anti-Corruption Structure (SPAK), which will be finalized within 30 days.
The proposal that has received the support of the majority of members is that the KLP will appoint eight prosecutors to the SPAK, beginning with filling in the SPAK staff and immediately opening the race for the expression of interest for the SPAK leader, which lasts 5 days. The proposal was approved today in the KLP by 11 votes.
Another important point in the approved proposal is the coordination that the KLP should have with the High Judicial Council for the establishment of the Special Anti-Corruption Court.
Manjola Kajana has appealed and is currently in the KPA and Anila Jella has not passed the KPK but adjourned the hearing. Anton Martini, Elizabeta Imeraj and Doloreza Musabelliu have not yet passed the first phase of KPK vetting.
The establishment of the SPAK will utilize the legal framework that provides for institution building with eight prosecutors who have passed both degrees of vetting, while the other two to fill the tenth, be temporary or commanded prosecutors.
