The Special Appeals Panel upheld the KPK’s decision to dismiss Judge Sotiraq Lubonja.
Ljubonja is a judge at the Korça Court of Appeal.
Did not justify the estate – The Independent Qualification Commission on October 8 ruled to dismiss a judge who was also a candidate for the Justice Appointments Council.
According to investigations made by the KPK, the Korça judge found that he did not justify a portion of his property, which he listed in the vetering statement as gifts made by his mother and father-in-law.
The ILDKPKI’s report on this judge found concealment of assets, non-disclosure in his vetting statements, saying that he had received four million lek new gift from his mother, saved by her pension and 25,000 dollars from father-in-law.
Also, a bank account of five thousand and five hundred dollars has been opened on behalf of his sons, who are also justified as a gift from grandfather.
The KPK expressed reservations about Lubonja’s property, as there are no supporting documents for gifts received in significant monetary amounts.
Even for the two-storey flat valued at ALL 2.5 million, KPK found discrepancies from the 2003 statements regarding land area, floors and vetting declarations.
In his arguments, Sotiraq Lubonja claimed that the property that the KPK questioned was legal.
