Kol Hysenaj is one of two Tirana prosecutors who decided to take over defendants who denounced involvement in the narco-trafficking of Agron (Geron) Xhafaj, brother of former Interior Minister Fatmir Xhafaj.
His name is still on the “black list” of Prime Minister Edi Rama, who, after winning his second term in office, listed the names of 100 different officials accused of corruption by citizens.
At the time, Hysenaj was in the position of head of the Korça Prosecutor’s Office and had a series of public charges against him for engaging in corruption. As soon as his name was published on Rama’s “black list”, Kole Hysenaj was dismissed by the then Attorney General, Adriatik Llalla.
The reasons for Hysenaj’s immediate dismissal from the post of chief in Korça were never learned. But, it seems, Llalla has estimated that the information available to Edi Rama has been serious.
Kol Hysenaj was shocked by this move. Not for the fact that he lost the leadership post, but because the public accusations in his name could negatively affect the Vetting process.
He returned to Tirana as a simple prosecutor and apparently found a way to clear the “Party stain”.
Kol Hysenaj, along with colleague Genc Qana, are charged with investigating four people, including opposition MP Ervin Salianji and journalist Jetmir Olldashi, in the so-called “Babale affair”.
After about six months, the two prosecutors, without even performing the least investigative actions, decided to indict the 4 people for “false report”. The two prosecutors did not deal with suspicions of Agron (Geron) Xhafaj’s involvement in narcotics trafficking.
Kol Hysenaj and Genc Qana were content with the “investigative actions” against the MP and journalist, causing no embarrassment to “the father of the Justice Reform”, Fatmir Xhafaj.
The “Babale” affair was a “bonus” for Kole Hysenaj. With numerous suspicions of involvement in corruption, he should have made it clear that the Vetting process would be fatal to him.
But this process has already become clear, controlled by Fatmir Xhafaj and Edi Rama’s “Renaissance”. For this reason, Kole Hysenaj had the golden opportunity. Criminalizing the denunciations of Agron (Geron) Xhafaj, he honors Fatmir Xhafaj, but on the other hand defames Edi Rama and his government.
In return, Kole Hysenaj hopes to receive confirmation from the Renaissance in the Vetting process.
