Saimir Tahiri and Orest Sota, the boy who was found 863 thousand euros and the patrol licenses of the former Interior Minister in the car, have had close acquaintance with each other.
In the investigative file against Saimir Tahiri, part of which “Boldnews.al” has provided exclusively, are given concrete details on the links of the former minister with Orest Sotan.
Both of them, along with other people, were on vacation in Montenegro just a few months before Orest Sota was arrested by Elbasan Police.
The Prosecution for Serious Crimes says that during the investigation of this case, there have been data indicating that during July and August 2017, citizen Saimir Tahiri has made holidays abroad, in the state of Montenegro and Italy, accompanied by his family members, as well as some other persons, mostly police officers, and one of them is the citizen Orest Sota. On this trip Saimir Tahiri has spent a few days using a private or tourist cruise ship, being the leader and captain of this floating vessel.
Orest Sota was arrested in November 2017, shortly after his break with Saimir Tahiri, after quickly fleeing a police post. After being detained by the police, around 863 thousand euros were found in his vehicle, as well as the patrol licenses on behalf of Saimir Tahiri and his wife.
Orest Sota stated that the amount of money was his own and was being taken to a steel company to make some payments for his father’s business account. While for Tahiri’s patents, he stated that they were forgotten in the vehicle by the driver of former Interior Minister Gentian Çaka, who was a partner with Orest Sotan.
These statements did not convince Serious Crimes Prosecutors, who have strong suspicions that the considerable sum of money is the citizen under investigation, Saimir Tahiri. This doubt is further strengthened when, from the data of foreign authorities, it is proved that between Tahiri and Orest Sotai there was a very close connection.
