Some of them own real estate that exceed the figures of millions of euros, while others have dramatically increased revenues, mainly during the 2013 elections. Boldnews.al analyzes every Mayor’s property declaration that has more than two mandates and financial operations suspicious.
In the June 21, 2015 local elections, the results also attracted mayors who re-run for the desert times.
The most prominent were Xhelal Mziu, Vangjush Dako, Qazim Sejdini, Elvis Roshi, and Gezim Topçiu, where the latter surpassed any forecast by being elected for the 5th mandate at the helm of Maliq Municipality.
Tagged as the “veterans” of the local government, some of them have come up with delusional wealth in politics while others have significantly increased their earnings while exercising their official duties.
Boldnews.al analyzed their property declarations year after year published by Spending Data, since the first mandate and until 2014.
According to the data, several mayors have used the electoral year 2013 as well as the institutional vacuum for the election of the president of ILDKPKI, to declare hundreds of millions of unjustified.
Xhelal Mziu – The chairman who won the third mandate for the Municipality of Kamza has a sucked apartment. 92 m2, a Mercedes Benz car worth five million (old), a Peugeot car, and a small income in second tier banks that do not exceed the 3-4 million (old) figure.
Meanwhile, since 2010, the mayor has received a loan of 43 million (old) and continues to pay installments.
Mziu holds the Ph.D. Doctor’s Degree, obtained from the Agricultural University in Kamza. This scientific title has also led to increased revenue for Mziu since until recently he has attended several universities as a lecturer.
Vangjush Dako – Was elected as mayor of Durrës for the third time.
He came with a wealth of wealth, where his assets include a 11-storey palace worth 720 million ALL (old), several land plots in different areas, a 300 m2 warehouse and another 130m2 apartment.
He also owns a Mercedes Benz car worth 25,000 euros and a BMW 7 million (old) car.
The mayor of the coastal city does not have much income in bank accounts, as its main interest is immovable property.
Elvis Roshi – This is the second mandate for the Mayor of Kavaja. Roshi owns a 300-m2 (120m2) room and a 120 m2 shop, benefited from the construction of a palace on the land purchased in 2002 in Kavaja.
In this city, Roshi also has another land plot of 1300 m2.
Since the beginning of his first term, Roshi had received a 30 million (old) suspicious move to a second-tier bank, claiming his father’s private income.
Also in 2010, the mayor bought a luxury car “Audi A3” in concessionaire with credit worth 26 thousand euros. Loan installments are paid quickly, ending as a liability within 2014.
Qazim Sejdini – Elected for the third time in charge of Elbasan, Qazim Sejdini is one of the most prominent mayors.
His assets are located in the south of the country and mainly in Fier. He owns in this town a 478 sqm villa with 350 million ALL (old), 120 m2 100 million ALL (old), 840 sqm warehouse worth 250 million ALL (old) ) as well as two large offices with a total value of 86 million ALL (old).
In Vlora there is an apartment 130 m2 worth 63 million lek (old), and another with 102 m2 area. Sejdini has 3 owned cars that go around 50 million lek (old).
But in addition to the properties, the mayor of Elbasan has many debts as he received from the second-tier banks about 270 million ALL of the loan.
Sejdi’s wife through “Ujori Sh.pk”, a customs agency on her behalf, has benefited hundreds of millions of leks since 2004. (download company extract). Also, the children of Mayor Sejdini have been employed in state institutions with relatively high salaries and also taken with private activities.
The 2013 electoral year for the Sejdin family would be golden this and because of an institutional stalemate of the Inspectorate of Declaration and Control of Parury. Meanwhile, the list of properties adds two apartments in Kavaja and a garage in the city.
Although with provocative wealth, Ismaili has a $ 370,000 loan taken to one of the second-tier banks.
Ismail’s wife is the administrator of “AgroBlend Sh.pk”, where her declared salary has undergone a significant increase in 2009.
Gëzim Topçiu – He has broken all political records by being elected for the 5th time at the helm of Maliq Municipality. However his attitude so long in a local post has not made him richer.
In addition to salary, Topçiu owns only one bus where by 2010 he received some modest income. In 2014, he sells the scrap bus with 3 million ALL (old).
Meanwhile there is a loaned apartment as well as an agricultural land.
Nesim Spahiu – This is the second mandate for the mayor of Çorovodë. He owns an apartment of 80 m2 while giving his son a 101 m2 apartment.
The mayor himself has a Mercedes Benz car, while his son owns 2 cars, a Mercedes Benz and a BMW.
In 2014, Spahi’s spouse’s income increased. According to the property declaration, she is employed in two positions of state administration.
