The Serious Crimes Prosecution and the Tirana Prosecutor’s Office have returned a response to the KPA to the reassessment subject Besnik Muçi. The latter was confirmed in office by the KPK, but the decision was appealed after a person to whom Muci had bought the house was convicted of a crime. Also, another, to whom he had bought the car.
At today’s hearing, Muçi stated that he had submitted a written submission regarding the acts brought by the prosecution.
Asked at the hearing by the panel, “what is your comment on these acts”.
Muçi stated that, “These documents do not reveal any data that creates a conflict of interest with citizen A.L., who was involved in criminal proceedings. A.L is one of the largest taxpayers and businessmen of the Tirana municipality. In 2018 I deposited 7 thousand euros in the company account, for 2019 I deposited 14 thousand euros in proceeds from a loan contract ”.
A few days ago, Muçi was in the position of prosecutor at Serious Crimes. He is now a member of the Constitutional Court, decreed by the Presidency.
As for the inaccurate declaration of property, Muçi says that the animation of the Public Commissioner is unfounded in evidence, while he has presented new evidence himself.
The KPA reviewed a secret DSIK report and asked Muçi when he learned that A.L. was involved in criminal proceedings. “I came to know after DISK brought the report and made public in the media. I want to clarify public opinion who the persons are and what they are accused of. The first is the company administrator, convicted of a crime, the person who sold me the apartment. The other related person is a citizen that I purchased a vehicle from. He has been prosecuted twice by the Prosecution. He was taken to court for drunk driving and opposition to a police officer. The KP’s insistence on using it as evidence is of no value to the process at hand. In conditions when there is no legal reason to be admitted during the process, I assess that we are not in the circumstances to obtain this evidence, “he said.
