International Monitoring Operation demands the dismissal of Kavaja Prosecutor General Artan Madani. The ONM request has been sent to the Public Commissioners, as the institution entitled to appeal the decisions of the Independent Qualification Commission.
“On 1.7 July 2009, at the conclusion of the relevant hearing, the Independent Qualification Commission decided on the affirmative confirmation of the re-evaluation subject, Mr. Artan Madani, Prosecutor / Leader in the Prosecutor’s Office at the Kavaja District Court. Today, on 29.7.2019, the International Monitoring Operation submitted to the Public Commissioners the recommendation to appeal to the Special Appeals Panel the decision of the Independent Qualification Commission on the subject of reassessment, Mr. Artan Madani. The Public Commissioners, after being notified in writing of the decision by the Independent Qualification Commission, shall consider it in addition to the recommendation of the International Monitoring Operation. This decision has not been announced yet ”, reports IKP.
The Independent Qualification Commission has 30 days to notify the decision in writing to the Public Commissioners. Whereas the Public Commissioners, within 15 days from the date of notification of the decision by the Independent Qualification Commission, have the right to appeal to the Special Appeals Panel.

The Independent Qualification Commission confirmed at the beginning of the month the head of the Kavaja Prosecutor’s Office Artan Madani. Madani who was investigated by the KPK on all three criteria proved to be problematic in terms of professional image and skills. Explanations of the fortune were asked to Madan even at the end of the session mainly in a series of questions by international observer Ferdinando Buatier. The prosecutor, who appeared at a hearing with a lawyer, explained that the apartment, which was his only property, was created based on legal sources, he made a history of the family situation and relationships with relatives who had helped build the apartment.

Artan Madani started his career in the justice system in 1994. He worked as a prosecutor in Durres, headed the Lezha prosecution and returned again as a prosecutor at the Durres Prosecutor’s Office.
