It would take at least 17 years for the Albanian judiciary to review and issue a ruling on thousands of files blocked in the justice system.
It is this alarm raised by the High Judicial Council in its report on the situation of the judiciary presented by them some time ago.
Currently, the Supreme Court is blocked and there is only one out of the 19 envisaged members, Ardian Dvorani, with the rest resigned and dismissed from the vetting process.
In the report provided by ReportTv by 2036 Albanian citizens will have to wait in the hope that the right will be put in place.
This prediction coincides with the situation in the High Court where there are currently over 22,000 files blocked while according to the KLGJ the situation is expected to get worse where appeals are expected to reach double this figure over 31,000 other cases.
Another gloomy situation created by the justice system is the delay in rendering decisions by judges.
With the postulate that delayed justice is justice denied, the list of courts that fail to timely resolve decisions is presided over by the Vlora District Court with 407 cases; Vlora Court of Appeals with 332 cases; followed by the Lushnja Judicial District Court with 161 cases and the Administrative Court of Appeal with 106 cases.
This situation, according to the KLGJ, is due to the lack of judges who have been dismissed from the vetting or the rest have been dismissed.
Currently, the KLGJ is in the process of unblocking the high court where it has started the nomination phase and out of 22 candidates applying for the second stage only 8 have been selected.
