The Administrative Court of Appeal has postponed the decision for lawyer Lulzim Alushaj, running for Chief Prosecutor for the second time. The absence of one of the judges,on argument that his father passed away, led to the decision being postponed to 25 October.
Lulzim Alushaj was disqualified by the KLP from the race for chief prosecutor, as he did not fulfill the condition of having 15 years of experience as a prominent lawyer. This decision of the Supreme Prosecutorial Council, removing him from the race, was appealed by lawyer Alushaj. On October 21, the trial was postponed because one of its members was absent, and the same thing happened today, delaying the verdict again.
The decision for Alushaj is also dragging out the KLP process to take further steps for the candidates for chief prosecutor. Candidates for the post of chief prosecutor are Serious Crimes Prosecutor Olsjan Cela, Tirana Appellate Prosecutor Fatjona Memcaj, and current Chief Prosecutor Arta Marku.
