KLP has disqualified today from the race for Prosecutor General, Lulzim Alushaj, while following the race Arta Marku, Olsian Cela and Fatjona Memcaj.
Alushaj was the only one of the four candidates not to enter the race from the prosecution, while the other three are part of the prosecution.
Alushaj is a lawyer and is considered a candidate “lobbied” by Ben Blushi, currently the director of Top Channel.
Alushaj did not hide being a Top Channel lawyer in at least one case when he was involved in a dispute with a pharmaceutical company representative.
Even his name has been advertised or supported in this contest by Top Channel.
“The surprise name so far was that of lawyer Alushaj. Lawyer Alushaj completed his master’s in international law at the University of Bologna in Italy in 2005.
In 2000-2004 he graduated in Law at the University of Bologna with a doctorate in this field in the field of “EU Governance, Social and Fiscal Policies”.
He also defended the topic entitled “European Integration Policies in Social, Economic and Legal Areas”, reported in a TCH chronicle, during which various candidates had expressed their preference to run for Attorney General.
Meanwhile, another Top Media, Albanian newspaper, echoed Alushaj’s candidacy.
“The Gazeta Shqiptare has provided a reference letter from the President of the Committee on Justice in the Italian Parliament, Ms. Francesca Businarolo.
The MP, who is one of the most important voices in Italian politics, has sent a letter of appreciation to the Supreme Prosecutorial Council for the integrity of the candidate’s image, Lulzim Alushaj.
Mrs. Businarolo recounts the ongoing collaboration he has had over the years with Lawyer Lulzim Alushaj, “reported in June this year, regarding the race for chief prosecutor.”
So, in a nutshell, for the candidacy of Lulzim Alushaj, a name not very well known in the public, he launched a media campaign that is part of Top Media, which includes TCH and the Albanian newspaper.
But it seems that the media campaign, or even the political support that the lawyer might have had through the short ties of former Socialist MP Ben Blushi, has not yielded the expected result – that his name be forwarded to the Assembly for a vote.
The race is now open to the remaining 3 candidates whose names will be forwarded to the Assembly in a scoring order.
And in a situation where there may be a split among the Renaissance MPs, the process of ranking the candidates by points is very important.
