The Kukes Prosecutor’s Office, Alketa Nushi, was dismissed from office on Thursday due to the problems encountered in the three veting criteria. The decision was announced by court corps, composed of Etleda Çiftja, Lulzim Hamitaj and Firdes Shuli.
The Independent Qualification Commission found inaccuracies in the declaration of assets by Prosecutor Nushi, especially with several land surfaces in Mifol, Vlora, where she owned a part. But the main problems are related to an “inadequate” report of the DSIK and the various standards followed in investigating some issues from the subject.
The Classified Information Security Directorate, DSIK submitted two reports to Nushi as it reflected new information on an inappropriate contact with a person under criminal proceeding. During the hearing, Nushi said the report had nothing to do with it and “felt ashamed”.
The Kukes Prosecutor’s Leader was also penalized on the professional skills criterion, as the KPK evidenced that it had followed a double standard regarding the security measure of two persons as well as problems in qualifying the professional skills.
Similar problems have been identified in several other files.
Prosecutor Alketa Nushi defended her investigations before the KPK, adding that the courts of all levels had left the decision to terminate an investigation in 2017. “I think I have completed all possible investigative actions,” she said, admitting that the accusation of breaking public peace could have been added.
