Italian controversy, owner of several media outlets in Albania and known for his connections with the government, has managed to take over the “Bunk’Art 2” that was inaugurated the day before. The ceremony was attended by Prime Minister Rama, Interior Minister Saimir Tahiri, deputy of the majority, while also attending the presence of Carlo Bollino.
But Bollino was not so casual since “Bunk’Art 2”, like “Bunk’Art 1” in the former atomic bunker of the Central Committee, will be administered by an Albanian nationalist. The government has not yet published any document for this, but Boldnews.al learns that Bollino has kept up to date on the interior arrangement of this museum. It is unknown whether the works were carried out by “Spazio Eventi Albania”, an Italian company associated with Bollino who carried out the works of “Bunk’Art 1”.
Meanwhile, yesterday’s inauguration ceremony of “Bunk’Art 2” did not allow even the other media to film the opening of this monument symbolizing dictatorship, violence, persecution and of course the imprisoning of free speech.
The presence of Bollino and the exclusion of other independent media from this activity is scandalous. Only “Report Tv” and journalists of “Shqiptarja.com”, both media owned by Bollino, were allowed to take pictures and photos at the opening of “Bunk’Art 2”.
Controlling independent media while supporting a controversial media funded by public money is directly at odds with what every museum that remembers a dictatorship represents.
This is the second bunker under administration Carlo Bollino. In spring of this year, he also silenced “Bunk’Art 1”, the former atomic defense bunker, which in 2014 turned into a tourist museum. Bollino use an NGO called “URA Center” to take over the famous work under administration. But the media found that “URA Center”, this NGO is run by ladies Admirina Peci, a historian and Irma Gordani, a financier.
Mrs. Peçi is editor in the Italian- Businessman’s Report-Albania.com media Carlo Bollino, while Mrs.Gordani has been the legal representative of Bollino’s television.
The transfer of “Bunk’Art 1” and “Bunk’Art 2” to Carlo Bollino’s administration was an operation carried out in the absence of full transparency and unpublished by public authorities, as the law requires.
It seems that these two cultural monuments, from a symbol of the transformation of the atomic bunker into the tourist center, are turning into a symbol of transforming a national project into the stunt to capture media and favor media publishers like Mr. Bollino.
