Drinking water in the big cities of Albania continues to be one of the immediate problems.
Rightly, the government has launched the so-called “water reform”, which will enable the water supply of the population. So far, the biggest problems are Tirana and Durres, where residents have constant complaints. In these cities, drinking water runs only tens of minutes, failing to meet the basic conditions of a family. In the palaces of these cities are placed thousands of deposits on the terraces, while the Municipality of Tirana said a few days ago that it would take an initiative to remove these deposits, as they are the source of the infection. In a site that is supplied with at least 12 hours a day with potable water, deposit placement could be termed “bad” that could spread the epidemic, but residents were forced to place these deposits, as in those few minutes comes the water, at least fill the tank.
The reform started was well received by the citizens, who began to have a thread of hope. When only a few weeks have passed from this initiative, the first projects in the square have started to emerge. To the surprise of all, the government has allocated a full 3 billion Lek old to build a new water supply system in Lalzi Bay, where the governors themselves have their holiday villas. The area in question is known for its low population and recent years, powerful companies have built several tourist villages, where the first residents are just officials and former senior state officials. It seems that the government’s initiative is the supply of potable water to these villas, losing bigger cities. Bold News has secured the file of this massive bid, which seems to serve only a handful of people, and not the mass population, which continues to be persecuted by the polling governments. A few days ago, in the Public Procurement Agency, the General Directorate of Water Supply and Sewerage opened the procedure with electronic procurement.
“The procurement object is the construction of the Lalzi Durrës water supply network. The limit fund is 310 078 482 lekë pa TVSh. The source of funding is the state budget and the deadline for the completion of the works or the delivery of the goods / service is 12 months “stated in the tender documents.
Bold News has also provided the technical specifications of this tender. According to the document, the administrative unit of Ishëm is part of the Durrës Municipality and is located in the north of its territory where it is clearly divided (as a territory) from the river Ishëm in the north and from the Tarin river in the south. The document states that the main water supply line will be built as well as the main distribution line emerging from the new depot and extending towards the tourist area.
